Thought I’d post a couple pictures of two checkbook covers/wallets I finished up last week. I’ve got five of them available on the other website if you’d like to go over and take a look. The other site is www.GibsonLeather.com
The top one here is a floral in Dark Brown antique, and the one below is a hammered pattern with a half-flower border in Mahogany antique.
Busy week last week, and another underway. I finished a bunch of 1911 holsters in a few different flavor combinations. A couple of florals, a basket stamp and a hammer stamp (an idea I stole–see my earlier post). I also did a half-dozen in plain ol’ natural, which we all know I’m partial to.
Today will be mostly photography, pattern making for some new guns, and knife sheaths for the Buck #112 and #110. I’ve also had a few folks asking when and if I’d be making belts again. I will be–I built one the other day for yours truly and I’m real tickled with how it turned out. Being a glutton for punishment, the answer would be “yes, I will be bringing the belts back.”

From what’s left of America …
Every Monday morning, or as close to it as possible (after the coffee’s done) Don Gonzales of Don Gonzales Saddlery over in Moulton, Texas, shoots a short video of what he’s got going on in his shop. He’s been doing it for a few months now on his YouTube channel, and it’s gotten to be a regular “must watch” around here. Fact is, it’s a goldmine for those of us that spend a lot of time fooling with and fighting with leather in our own shops. It’s a nice break, and an opportunity to see how the other half lives.
He also offers a lot of tips, tricks and tutorials on both his website and his YouTube Channel. The website is HERE, and his YouTube Channel is HERE.
The real “gold,” in my view, is in the form of tutorial videos on his YouTube Channel. An added plus is that he’s got a video for each of the pattern packs that he offers on his website, and the videos are free.
If you’re looking for leatherworking resources, this is one I’d highly recommend.
