On the bench. Saturday edition.

File folders, educated guesses, and a little “won’t work but it’s close.”

Good Saturday morning, and Happy April! There’s something about a brand-new, shiny month that always gets me kick-started and motivated. April’s a little weird because we tend to flush the first day with “April Fool’s” nonsense. I don’t do the April Fool’s crap–whether it’s aging and intolerance, or just that it’s stupid. Probably a little of both. Besides, we have the media, where every day is April Fool’s Day.

Closer. Not 100% spot-on, but pretty much there.

I’ve been making quite a few sheaths for the Buck 112 folder this past week, and I just started with the pattern making for the Buck 110. The first photo is of the first prototype which looks like something the dog got ‘hold of. That’s normal–or, at least in my world that’s normal. I use a lot of manila file folders, and dig in my scrap bin for pieces because the first couple efforts always get thrown away. The second photo is real close to what I’m after. I’ll trim a little here, and adjust a little there.

A few finished sheaths for the Buck 112 that will be shipping out on Monday alongside my Buck 110 prototype project that I hope to be producing a few of next week. Between holsters, of course.

That’s what we’re up to around here. The last photo shows a few finished for the Buck 112 that are shipping on Monday, and I plan to have more of those, along with a few for the Buck 110 in the upcoming week.

I’ve also been forgetting to mention my YouTube Channel. There’s only one video on it, and it’s not great, but I do plan to add more to it as time permits. Topical. Or, not.

I thought I’d try and write a blog post a couple of times a week. Then, I thought maybe once a week. I’m tickled at this point that I’m hitting a little better than one a month. Barely.

We’re still not accepting advance orders. The products we do ship with the Postal Service are up there with tossing a marble on a roulette wheel in Vegas. They may arrive, they may not. Either way, they’ll likely take a tour of the country before they land somewhere.

Not much to talk about that you haven’t already seen sewer pipes full of over the past several months. Depending on your political persuasion you’re either really happy or really screwed.

As a lot of you know, I took a social media break last summer. Dumped all of them for six months, and started back a couple of months ago from zero. Fact is, social media does very little for my businesses. Other folks mileage may vary, but for me, the hours are nowhere near worth the return. This time around, I’m using them primarily to be a smartass, and show a few photos/videos of what we’re doing around here when the mood moves me. There’s not much chance of my becoming an “influencer.” It’s a lot more fun when it’s not a “job.”

Beyond that, I got nothin’. I’ll be tracking the Presidential Dementia Project with the rest of you.

Believe half of what you see…

…and none of what you hear. That was attributed to Ben Franklin, but you can’t believe it because of all of the above. It’s also been attributed to Edgar Allan Poe. I still think it’s good advice, considering the quandary we all find ourselves in. The less I see and hear, the smaller the shovel I need to keep handy.

My newest round knife, aka head knife, etc., is the one above from Terry Knipschield up in Minnesota. Terry hasn’t been accepting orders for the last several months (to my knowledge) as he’s been rebuilding his knife shop. When he does get back to building knives again, I highly recommend them. I got this one almost a year ago, and finally decided to show it off.

That’s about all I have for today. It looks like we’ve got about fourteen days left in 2020, and we can kick this pig in the ass and send it on its way.
